Galloway Releases Statement on Jeff Johnson Candidacy
Pledges to Continue Fighting for Taxpayers
Today, State Senator Pam Galloway (R-Wausau) released the following statement:
“Assuming a recall election is held, I look forward to continuing to speak to the taxpayers and
job creators in the 29th Senate District about my record and Mr. Johnson’s support for the failed
policies of the past. This recall effort against me has not come easy for the Democrats and the
public sector union bosses. Paid surrogates from these left-wing special interests from Madison
and elsewhere have descended upon our community over the last few weeks to try to undo the
election held just over a year ago. My supporters and I intend to carefully examine the
signatures if and when they are submitted for the recall.
“My record since day one of taking office has been clear. I have fought tirelessly for the
taxpayers and have worked to erase a multibillion-dollar deficit caused by the reckless spending
of both parties. At this same time, Mr. Johnson has been a mouthpiece for the Democrat agenda
of higher taxes, job killing regulations and runaway spending. The voters of the 29th Senate
District soundly rejected Mr. Johnson’s party’s agenda in 2010 and I believe will do so again
should this election go forward.
“Job creation and economic development will no doubt be a focus of this campaign. I have said
all along that turning around Wisconsin’s economy would not happen overnight. I have
supported pro-jobs initiatives that have laid the foundation to move Wisconsin’s economy
forward. Mr. Johnson and his Democrat allies believe that big government creates jobs, while
the fact remains that small businesses drive the engine of economic growth in this country. I ask
Mr. Johnson how orchestrating a protest at a jobs fair held by small businesses and attended by
over 1,000 jobseekers from our community helped grow Wisconsin’s economy?
“While these recalls are a distraction for the State Legislature and costly for our local units of
government, I pledge to continue to the do the job I was elected to do.”
Senator Pam Galloway has been representing the 29th Senate District since January of 2011.
